Associate Dean for Research Mark Redfern
The Swanson School of Engineering has excelled in basic and applied research during the past decade and is on the forefront of technology in several important areas including energy systems, bioengineering, micro- and nanosystems, computational modeling, and advanced materials development. We are building upon our research strengths by hiring faculty in these areas and creating new collaborations within and beyond the School. Our new Center for Energy and Center for Simulation and Modeling are our most recent expansion efforts. We also recently became a designated Engineering Research Center by the National Science Foundation as part of a five-year, $18.5 million project, in
partnership along with the University of Cincinnati and the project’s lead institution, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
